Grant City Wesleyan Church - "Broken Lives Mended Here"
OurHistory andHeritage
The first services for what became Grant City Wesleyan Church were held in 1873 in a wood-frame country church. In 1895 the church building was moved by being pulled by a team of horses over logs five miles to our current location in Grant City. The congregation also officially organized as the Wesleyan Methodist Connection of Grant City in 1895 as part of a four-point circuit which included the current Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and now defunct congregations in Kennard and Greensboro.
In 1974 a tornado devastated the communities of Grant City and Kennard including the homes of the congregation as well as the church parsonage. The church roof was blown off but the building was repaired and strengthened and much of the Grant City community rebuilt. The church rebuilt the parsonage and added a fellowship hall and communitycenter in the years which followed.
In July 2011, our current pastor came toserve Grant City Wesleyan: Rev. Joshua D. Johnson. Pastor Josh and his familymoved from Benton County, Indiana where he served as pastor of Hope Wesleyan Church of Fowler. Dan Heylmann became our associate pastor in June of 2013.
